Proclaim!

Peter draws our attention to “The Christ, the Son of the Living God” as the “Living Stone” upon which Ecclesia (the Church) is built (1 Peter 2:4; Exodus 17:6; 1 Cor. 10:4). So, Ecclesia has three important components. First, comprises of a “Holy People” (1 Peter 2:5, 9). We are Holy because we received Mercy from a holy God (1 Peter 2:9–10, 24; Ephesians 2:4). As Holy people, i.e., the church, we are to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus (Isa. 56:7; Mal. 1:11; Rom. 12:1; Heb. 13:15). Second, Ecclesia is a spiritual house (1 Peter 2:5). Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone, i.e., the foundational pillar that holds the church. Jesus is “A Stone of Offense and the Rock of Stumbling (1 Peter 2:6–8; Rom. 9:33; Cited from Isa. 8:14). Third, Ecclesia is built to Proclaim (1 Peter 2:9). The church’s missions is to proclaim the excellencies of God to all the nations. If that is the case, partner with God in building His Ecclesia (Isa. 42:16; Acts 26:18). God made us a “Fountain of Life” (FOL) in Jesus for His missions in the world (Psalm 36:9). Jesus wants to make you a “Holy People” that are built up into a “Spiritual House” to partner with God in His mission of proclaiming the excellencies of His name. This is why Jesus came, suffered, died, and was raised to make you proclaim Him among the nations. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds, you have been healed (1 Peter 2:24).
